HISTORY is the land-mark by which we are directed into the true course of life.

The history of a movement, the history of a nation, the history of a race is the guide-post of that movement's destiny, that nation's destiny, that race's destiny.

What you do to-day that is worthwhile, inspires others to act at some future time.

All Of History Is A Current Event

This program is designed specifically for educators and church groups to increase awareness and the effective use of instruction as it relates to the life and history of African American people.  The program goes well with events that promote cultural sensitivity training and in-service activities for teachers.  We also offer on line classes through our subsidiary, Nirvana Institute.  Call 1-877-990-0101 for information concerning the on line classes.  http://nirvanainstitute.org

Program Goals

Many African American churches are embracing the idea of encouraging their members to understand their culture and history.  Our program will augment such an effort.  Using our workshop format with tools and resources, church groups can offer training for their educational leaders on how to incorporate African American culture and history in with their religious experiences.  All of our workshops with church groups are anchored with the understanding that the Black Church is the cornerstone of Black life.  Nirvana Ministries’ program can be tailored to meet the needs of church groups regardless of denomination.

The program also contains a speakers bureau for special black history events.

The study groups are presented as special interest segments and chronologically.  Below are a sample of classes that will be offered in the fall of 2009:

History of the Black Family in America

The Role of Women in African American History

A Survey of Black Literature During the Years of Slavery

A Survey of Literature from the Harlem Renaissance

The History of Slavery in America

A History of the Civil Rights Movement Part One and Part Two

The Black Power Movement In America

and others.....

Classes are taught on line in the evening.  The only tool needed is a computer with Internet access.  Materials will be presneted to participants as a part of their tuition.  Classes are conducted over a 12 week period, meeting once a week for 1-1/2 hours.  The cost of a twelve week session which includes materials is $150.00.  Participants can participate for 6 weeks for $100 which also includes materials.
